A startling statistic from the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta: currently 3.5 million Americans live with an autism spectrum disorder. The study also says that early intervention is the key to helping those diagnosed. The Ash family is taking that advice to heart. They’re getting early help for grandson Walter, thanks to the WHAS Crusade for Children and the Dorman PreSchool Center.

Registration is open for the 2017 Louisville Triple Crown of RunningSM (LTCOR).

Participants can save $5 per event by registering prior to December 31, 2016.

Papa John’s 10 Miler – April 1

The 3-race series also unveils its new mobile-friendly website: LouisvilleTripleCrown.com, which makes looking up information and registration a lot easier using hand-held devices.

Since 2002, the race series has contributed over $1.7 million to the Crusade.

Crusade license plate available September 6

The Commonwealth of Kentucky has contacted the Crusade office to report that the WHAS Crusade for Children license plate will be available September 6, 2016.

Here’s what you do:
1. You’ll receive a post card from the state (if you filled out a form before).
2. Take that post card to the County Clerk’s office.

Look for this post card in the mail or contact your county clerk’s office.

Braille books for children

The WHAS Crusade for Children sometimes brings together unusual partners to help youngsters with special needs. Case in point: the Crusade, the American Printing House for the Blind and the Kentucky Correctional Institute for Women have combined efforts to bring Braille books to children with sight issues.

Horses deliver help and hope

Damon makes a splash!

Summer vacation is quickly coming to an end for students across Kentuckiana. One Bullitt County youngster and his classmates are enjoying a last outing to the pool. It’s an outing where 9-year-old Damon breaks free of his wheelchair and swims with his friends, thanks in part to the WHAS Crusade for Children.
